What time is check in?
Check in is at 3 pm, check out is at 12 noon.

Can we stay on the Cedar Lakes property after we checkout on the day of our departure?
Unless you have arranged for a late checkout we ask that you please leave the grounds upon checkout. If no one else is checking in the same day as your departure, we are happy to offer you a late checkout. Please arrange this before your stay.

How do we pay?
When you make a reservation we will charge your credit card for the full amount of the rental. If you book more than one month in advance we can arrange for a deposit to be paid and the balance paid 2 weeks prior to check in. You can also arrange to pay by check.

What is your cancellation policy?
Bookings may be cancelled up to 2 weeks prior to check in date for 100% refund, less a $25 fee. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks prior to check in will not be refunded. Exceptions may be made if we are able to rent the cottage to another party.

Do you require a security deposit?
Guests are responsible for any damage beyond normal wear and tear caused to the property. We require a $500 security deposit which is pre-authorized on the guest's credit card on the day of check-in. It is refunded upon inspection of the premises after departure.

Do we need to bring out own linens?
Unless otherwise specificied, we provide bed sheets and bath towels.

Are there beach towels?
No, please bring your own towels for swimming.

Will the kitchen have basic cooking supplies (oil, sugar, etc)?
We do not stock anything edible but often times these items will be left behind by a previous guest. We do supply dishwashing soap, sponges, and coffee filters.

What kind of supplies does the kitchen have?
Each kitchen is supplied with enough plates, cookware, and utensils for you to cook a full meal. Basic appliances like a coffeemaker are also provided.

Do you have fishing equipment/bikes/tennis racquets available for us to use or rent?
No, guests should bring all of their own sports and fishing equipment.

Is there a supermarket nearby?
There is a supermarket about 5 miles away in Montague, NJ. Directions are in our Guest Guide.

How long does it take to get to Cedar Lakes from New York City?
We are 70 miles from New York and it is a very easy drive. It usually takes less than 90 minutes.

Is Cedar Lakes accessible by public transportation?
MetroNorth/NJ Transit has buses and trains from New York City via Hoboken that stop in Port Jervis. A cab from Port Jervis to Cedar Lakes costs around $20.

Do we need to bring our own firewood?
We will leave firewood at your cottage. If you need more, you can get it at the red maintenance barn located at the fork in the road.

Do all of the cottages have fireplaces?
All cottages have fireplaces.

Can we build a bonfire on the property?
We are in the process of building a firepit for cottage guests, until that time, fires are not permitted except in fireplaces.

Do you allow pets?
Dogs are allowed in the BlueBird Bungalow only.

Is there a swimming pool?
The swimming pool is private and only available for guests staying in the Cabana.
