Cedar Lakes is a 500-acre estate surrounding “twin” cedar lakes, each about the size of a city block. The lakes are great for swimming, boating and fishing. They are stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Crappie, Blue Gill, Catfish, Perch, and Sunfish. Fishing is catch and release and there are rowboats available for guests to use.
There are informal hiking trails throughout the property and areas that are suitable for mountain biking and cross-country skiing. There are also tennis and basketball courts on the property that guests can use. Download our Guest Guide for a printable version of area attractions. Guests should bring their own sports and fishing equipment.
Cedar Lakes has a rich and interesting history. The property was first used in the 1920s as a summer camp for inner-city children. For over 50 years, kids came from New York City to Camp Minisink for a summer of fun. When the current owners purchased the property in the early 1990s they transformed it into a premier athletic training facility. Team USA Sports Camp operated for many years and served as a training site for elite athletes including several Olympic gold medalists and World Cup soccer players. Team USA Sports Camp still operates today during select weeks throughout the year as a training camp for school athletic teams.
As the owners developed the lakefront area of the 500-acre property, they built several luxury cottages and the main lodge house. The former camp area and cabin villages are now used for group events, retreats, and sports training camps. The vacation rental cottages and the Lodge are in the lakefront area and are rented to guests on a nightly and weekly basis. Cottage guests may use the waterfront area and the basketball and tennis courts on the camp property.
